The 21st Soong Ching Ling Award for Children's Invention
Date: 22/08/2026
Date: August 19–22, 2026
Location: Beijing
Award-Winning Students: 3A LIN XINYI and 3C CHEN YUET YUNG
Winning Project: Hollow Tiles Detector
Our students, 3A LIN XINYI and 3C CHEN YUET YUNG , previously delivered an outstanding performance in the "28th Hong Kong Youth Science & Technology Innovation Competition." As a result, they were recommended to represent Hong Kong at the "21st Soong Ching Ling Award for Children's Invention," organized by the Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the China Association of Inventions, which took place in Beijing from August 19 to 22.
The team developed an innovative project entitled "Hollow Tiles Detector", which combines AI audio recognition with ROS robotic operating system technology. By using a robotic arm to tap tiles and a microphone to collect the sound of the tapping, it identifies hollow sounds, thereby improving the efficiency of old building inspections.
