The 8th Greater Bay Area Digital Education STEAM Excellence Award 2026 (HKSAR)

Date: 09/09/2026

Two teams from our school's STEAM Team achieved outstanding results and won awards in the 8th Greater Bay Area Digital Education STEAM Excellence Award 2026 (HKSAR) held this August. Organized by the Hong Kong New Emerging Technology Education Association (HKNETEA), the competition aims to enhance students' creativity and innovation, recognize the hard work of young STEAM students, and honor the outstanding dedication of schools and teachers to STEAM education.

Our students performed brilliantly, bringing great honor to the school! The award details are as follows:

Silver Award

  • Students: 3A LIN XINYI (林沁儀), 3C CHEN YUET YUNG (陳悦蓉)
  • Project Title: AI Hollow Tiles Detector (AI 疑空)
  • Project Description: This project ingeniously combines AI audio recognition with the Robot Operating System (ROS). By utilizing a robotic arm to tap tiles and gathering acoustic data through a microphone, the system intelligently identifies hollow sounds. This technology significantly enhances the efficiency and safety of older building inspections.

Merit Award

  • Students: 3A CHAN CHUNG HO (陳仲豪), 3A NG KAI SEN (吳佳宸), 3C ZHU JIAYU (朱佳譽)
  • Project Title: Smart Drain-Clearer (巡規導渠)
  • Project Description: Addressing the critical issue of waterlogging caused by blocked drains during extreme weather, the team developed a smart cleaning robot to replace manual, hazardous wades in deep water. The robot can clear blockages ahead of heavy rainstorms, eliminating safety hazards, boosting the operational efficiency of urban drainage systems, and contributing to the development of a safe and smart city.
