The Future Engineer Grand Challenge 2023
Date: 20/07/2023
"The Future Engineer Grand Challenge 2023 Award Ceremony" was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 19/7. The event was divided into three main themes, namely "Smart Living", "Green Innovation and Technology", and "Art and Technology". This year, a total of 287 works submitted by more than 800 students from 122 schools were received, more than double the number of last year.
Our school students, 3A Xiao Nga Tan and She Man Yiu's work "Plantful 3.0" and 4A Liu Cheuk Yi, Cheung Hon Lam Alfred, Chiu Cheuk Fung, and 5E Wong Nok Wai's work "AI Beach ClearBot" won the first prize in the "Green Innovation and Technology" junior secondary school and senior secondary school groups respectively. This is another award in this territory-wide STEM competition, following Fang Zheng's work Megababy Remote Control Smart Tank Robot (Third prize) in 2020, and Huang Wei Nuo, Cheng Hao Guang, Chi Ke Yi, Zhang Jia Qing, Zhang Li Ping, and Fang Zheng's work AI Home (First prize) in 2021.
Our school students have improved their work and designed a low-cost and high-performance vertical hydroponic machine. "Plantful 3.0" uses 3D printing to make hydroponic machine parts, and users can freely replace hydroponic machine parts to grow vegetables of different sizes. In addition, "Plantful 3.0" replaces the traditional hydroponic mode with drip irrigation, which can not only save water but also cool the plants.
Here is an interview with our school student Xiao Nga Tan and teacher Lau Yu Kwan by Sing Tao Daily.
